Welcome to the Virtual Collaboration Network!

The purpose of this site is to provide a platform for scholars and practitioners who are interested in empirical research on virtual collaboration, i.e., collaboration across different locations and/or time zones predominantly based on electronic media and tools. The title "Virtual Collaboration" is used here as a connecting synthesis of concepts such as virtual teams, mobile work, computer-mediated collaboration, and the like. Apart from various differences between these concepts, there are many overlaps both in terms of theory as well as implications for practitioners.

Given that research on the various aspects of virtual collaboration is spread across many different research communities, journals, and books, this site is intended to provide a web-based "meeting point" for persons interested (a) in finding new publications on this issue (either working Papers as online downloads, or published Papers with e-mail addresses for copy requests), (b) in meeting other persons doing research on virtual collaboration, and (c) in sharing recent news and announcements (call for Papers, conferences, etc).

Of course, the usefulness of this web-site depends both on the quantity (traffic) as well as the quality (recency) of the information provided. Thus, we hope that you find this site useful, and that many of you share your work and information regularly.
